Honors College
The University of Arkansas Honors College brings together more than 3,000 high-achieving undergraduate students and 700 of the university’s top professors in a learning environment characterized by discovery, creativity, and service.
Honors students enjoy:
- Small, in-depth classes
- Priority registration
- Special housing
- Increased interaction with faculty
- Enhanced opportunities for hands-on research
The Honors College also provides significant financial support for our students. Each year we award:
- Up to 90 freshman fellowships that provide $70,000 over four years
- More than $1,000,000 in study abroad grants and undergraduate research grants
High-achieving students may also apply for one of approximately 1,000 merit-based freshman scholarships awarded to honors-eligible students each year. We extend our support through the degree program and beyond by helping students prepare strong applications for professional and graduate schools and nationally competitive awards. Over the past 10 years, for example, 90% of our pre-med students, on average, have won acceptance to medical school – more than twice the national average. U of A students have won national awards totaling more than $10,000,000 over the past five years.
Honors College students are a diverse group with widely varying interests, but they share an intellectual curiosity and energy that invariably leads to success. Over the past several years, the Honors College has expanded course offerings, research and study abroad opportunities, and service learning experiences across the university. Because of this, the Honors College attracts a large and growing number of talented students.
